Recycle used makeup, skin care, and hair care containers at Nordstrom

Nordstrom has a BEAUTYCYCLE recycling program for old makeup, skin care, and hair care containers. You can drop off old makeup containers that you can’t recycle in local recycling at Nordstrom stores. In the beauty department of your local Nordstrom store you’ll find large cardboard boxes to drop-off items.

Before recycling items make sure that the containers are empty. The program accepts both items purchased at Nordstrom stores and other stores.

This program is part of Nordstrom’s goal to recycle 100 tons of beauty packaging by 2025.

Items they accept for recycling

• Hair care products: empty bottles, tubes and caps from shampoo, conditioner, and styling products.
• Makeup products: empty tubes, tubs, pans, palettes, and twist-up containers from all cosmetics.
• Samples: Empty trial size tubes and vials (excluding perfume)
• Skin care products: empty bottles, tubes, and dispensers from cleansers, toners, and moisturizers.

Items NOT accepted for recycling

• Aerosol cans
• Bio-medical or bio-hazardous waste
• Electronic items such as blow dryers and hair straighteners
• Nail polish
• Nail polish remover bottles
• Perfume bottles
